Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-05-06

Draft — pending legal review. The text below describes our intended terms but has not yet been signed off by our legal advisor. For binding terms, please contact us at legal@justhireit.co.uk.

1. About these terms

These terms govern your use of the Just Hire It marketplace (“the Platform”), operated by Just Hire It Ltd (registered in England & Wales, company number 15363475). By creating an account or using the Platform you agree to these terms.

See also our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

2. Accounts

  • You must be 18 or over and able to form a binding contract under UK law.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password and account secure.
  • Vendor accounts require business verification (Companies House, VAT, insurance) before listings can be published.
  • DIY hirer accounts require ID verification (via Stripe Identity) before booking.
  • We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, fail verification, or are used fraudulently.

3. The Platform's role

Just Hire It is a marketplace. Hire contracts are formed directly between hirers and vendors. We facilitate discovery, booking, payment, and digital hire agreements but are not a party to the underlying hire contract.

We are not the supplier of the equipment and do not warrant its condition; vendors are responsible for the equipment they list and the service they provide.

4. Bookings and payment

  • Quoted prices are inclusive of any platform commission and exclusive of VAT unless stated.
  • Payment is processed by Stripe and held until the hire is confirmed by the vendor.
  • Refunds and cancellations follow the cancellation policy shown at checkout, which depends on time-to-hire-start.
  • Late returns may incur late charges as set out in the digital hire agreement.

5. Vendor terms

  • Commission is charged on every booking at the rate shown in your vendor dashboard. The current default is 20%; the rate is configurable per vendor.
  • Payouts are made via Stripe Connect, typically within 48 hours of hire confirmation.
  • Vendors must hold valid public liability insurance and keep KYC details up to date.
  • Listings must be accurate. Misrepresentation may lead to suppression or removal.

6. Hire agreements

Every booking generates a digital hire agreement covering deposit, late charges, damage liability, and return conditions. Both parties sign electronically before equipment dispatch. The agreement is binding and stored in your account.

7. Disputes

Disputes must be raised within 14 days of the hire end date. We mediate in good faith but are not a party to the contract; final resolution is between hirer and vendor. Where a dispute relates to a payment, Stripe's chargeback rules also apply.

8. Acceptable use

  • No fraudulent listings, fake reviews, or attempts to circumvent platform commission.
  • No abusive, threatening, or unlawful messages to other users.
  • No scraping, automated access, or reverse-engineering of the Platform.
  • No use of the Platform for any equipment that is illegal to hire under UK law.

9. Liability

We provide the Platform on an “as is” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability for any loss arising from use of the Platform is limited to the platform commission paid by you in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England & Wales.

11. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before any material change takes effect. The current version is always available at justhireit.co.uk/terms.
