Privacy Policy

Just Hire It Ltd (“Just Hire It”, “we”, “us”) is the data controller for personal data processed through this platform. We are registered in England & Wales under company number 15363475.

• Account data — name, email, phone number, password (hashed).
• Hirer data — billing address, payment details (held by Stripe), DIY hirer ID verification reference.
• Vendor data — company number, VAT number, sort code & account number (encrypted at rest), insurance documents.
• Usage data — pages viewed, searches run, bookings created, IP address, device/browser metadata.
• Communications — messages sent through the platform, support tickets, review content.

• Contract — to provide the marketplace, process bookings, and pay vendors.
• Legitimate interest — fraud prevention, platform analytics, security monitoring.
• Legal obligation — accounting records, DAC7 reporting, KYC checks.
• Consent — marketing emails (opt-in only); analytics cookies.

We share personal data only with processors who need it to deliver the service:

• Stripe (payments & payouts)
• Supabase (hosting & database)
• Email/SMS delivery providers
• HMRC (DAC7 reporting, where applicable)

We never sell personal data to third parties.

Account data is retained for the lifetime of the account plus 6 years after closure (to satisfy UK accounting record requirements). Booking and transaction records are retained for 7 years. Marketing preferences are retained until you withdraw consent. Encrypted financial identifiers are deleted when the linked vendor account is fully closed and all payouts have settled.

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request erasure (subject to our legal retention obligations)
• Object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Withdraw consent for marketing or analytics at any time
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk)

We use strictly-necessary cookies for authentication and CSRF protection. Analytics cookies load only after you grant consent via our cookie banner. We do not use advertising cookies.

Our hosting and payment providers may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, transfers are protected by UK Adequacy Regulations or Standard Contractual Clauses with additional safeguards.

We will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before any material change to this policy takes effect. The current version is always available at justhireit.co.uk/privacy.
